  • Introduction

Whether you need localized heat treatment on-site or in our workshop, or prefer to use our state-of-the-art facilities, we have the expertise to meet your requirements. Our services aim to optimize metallurgical properties, eliminate residual stresses, and ensure the performance and durability of components.

  • Local Heat Treatment

Local heat treatment is ideal for eliminating stresses caused by welding in equipment and piping systems. Our senior technicians, with over 25 years of experience, use ceramic elements and advanced consoles for precise control. We ensure expert installation and supervision, guaranteeing uniform and secure heating.

  • Furnace Heat Treatment

For large-scale solutions, choose our controlled atmosphere furnaces. We have several facilities, including a 12-million BTU furnace capable of treating equipment up to 48 feet in length, with a lifting capacity of up to 50 tons. Our facilities also allow for non-destructive testing to meet the most complex needs.

    Main furnaces:

    • Bécancour – 700 Boul. Alphonse Deshaies :
      • Furnace 1 : 12′ x 12′ x 48′
      • Furnace 2 : 21′ x 16′ x 8′
      • Furnace 3 : 5′ x 10′ x 6.5′
  • Stress Relieving After Welding or Machining

Stress relieving annealing eliminates residual stresses after welding or machining. This process helps prevent deformation and ensures an optimal crystalline structure for subsequent heat treatments.

  • Normalization

Normalization is a heat treatment prior to quenching, which refines the crystalline structure of steel and reduces brittleness for a quality quenching.

  • Solution Treatment

This process, suitable for alloys, involves heating the metal to a specified temperature to form a solid solution, ensuring optimal mechanical properties.

  • Preheating: Optimization of Metallurgical Performance

Performed with precision in the workshop or on-site, preheating helps maintain a constant temperature during welding. This process reduces the cooling rate, improves ductility, and decreases the risk of cracking and brittle fractures in steels.

  • Refractory Firing: Mastery of Performance

Our firing protocols ensure precise control of evaporation in refractory products. The temperature rise follows specific curves and stages, ensuring the durability of refractory products in industrial environments.

  • Paint Drying: Accelerating the Process

We use low-temperature heating methods to accelerate the drying or curing of coatings on metal parts, allowing for rapid project progress without compromising finish quality.

  • Hot Riveting: Guaranteed Strength

Hot riveting, ideal for robust assemblies, is a fastening technique for cylindrical parts, such as drive shafts. The cooled metal ensures a perfect and durable fit.

  • Mobile Burners and Refractory Firing

Our mobile burners, ranging from 2 to 6 million BTU, provide a solution for on-site furnaces and refractory firing, guided by our experienced technicians.

  • Our Achievements

Since 1987, Mequaltech has been a key player in the metallurgical sector. We have completed major projects such as the construction of Highway 30 bridge and the Samuel de Champlain bridge, as well as international petrochemical systems. We also collaborate with industry leaders like Alcan on research and development projects.
